Last updated 16 September 2026The short version
The GOAT Machine runs entirely in your browser. We do not run analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts, and we do not use cookies. Every simulation, verdict and film is computed on your device from data files we serve.
What is stored on your device
- goat_sound and goat_watch_muted — whether you turned the site's sound on or off, and whether the film is muted.
- goat_3d — whether you chose the 3D or the 2D replay.
- goat_streak — a running tally of your "who you got" picks against the verdicts (how many you called, how many were right, how many were upsets). The site records it for a streak feature it does not show yet.
- goat_seen_… — one flag per matchup you have already watched, named by sport and the two sides, so a repeat viewing goes straight to the machine.
All of this lives only in your browser's local storage. Nothing is sent to us.
Clearing your browser's site data removes this.
What our servers see
The site is hosted on Netlify, which processes ordinary web-server information (IP address, requested URL, browser type) to deliver pages and defend against abuse, under Netlify's privacy policy. We do not receive or keep this.
Error reports
If the site hits a JavaScript error, or one of its files fails to load, it may send a short technical report so we can fix it: the error message, a stack trace, the address of the script, file or page involved, and your browser's user-agent string. At most seven are sent per page. They contain no account or personal information — there are no accounts — and are kept only in Netlify's function logs, which are deleted after a few days.
Sharing
Share links and share cards are generated on your device and contain only the matchup you chose. We never see them unless you send them to us.
Children
The site collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this ever changes we will update this page and the date above.
